To continue our series of exploring some of the beautiful switch-off locations you can discover our products, we explore Fritton Lake.

Located on the Norfolk/ Suffolk boarder, Fritton Lake is a holiday club set amongst a 1,000 acre rewilding project, offering a luxury place to stay for cabin owners, members and holiday guests, expertly crafted local food and lake and land activities including standup paddle boarding, tennis and instructor-led yoga sessions. Join us as we catch up with them…

Please can you give us a little overview of Fritton Lake, what you offer and what makes you different?

Fritton Lake is a holiday club set in a place of incredible natural beauty on a two-mile long lake.  Guests enjoy wild swimming, saunas, and space. A stay in one of our Clubhouse rooms or a design-led cabin in the woods gives you access to our outdoor heated pool, gym, fitness classes, lake sports, tennis, beautiful lakeside trails and a delicious estate sourced menu, all at the heart of a pioneering 100-acre rewilding project.  Find out how the estate is balancing food production and biodiversity on a nature safari by jeep, boat or paddle-board while you are staying with us.

Where is the estate located & what are some of the area highlights for guests?

Fritton Lake is located on the Norfolk/ Suffolk boarder, a short drive from the wild beaches of East Norfolk or the Suffolk coast's more gentile seaside towns such as Southwold and Aldeburgh.  The medieval town of Norwich is 30 minutes by car.

Can you tell us about your sustainability initiatives and nature restoration programme?

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Fritton Lake.  Our outdoor pool is heated via ground source, you can work out at our Bio Gym which provides equipment powered by kinetic energy, the food served in our Clubhouse is seasonally sourced or foraged from our 1000 acre rewinding project and 5000 acre regenerative agriculture farm.  Guests can stay in our stunning design-led Koto cabins are built a few miles down the road using the most sustainable materials.

Owner, Hugh Somerleyton is a founding member of WildEast, a charitable foundation aiming to return 250,000 hectares of land to nature and radically change attitudes across East Anglia. It’s a mission that requires the public to pledge 20% of their land to let it grow and live naturally. No mowing. No ploughing. No flowerbeds (unless they are wild). Just long grasses, dandelions and the insects, birds and animals that will make it their home.

What is your favourite thing on the Clubhouse menu at the moment?

Smoked Haddock ceviche, citrus marinated Haddock, preserved cucumber, horseradish, chilli and lovage - devine!
