This year, we thought it would be nice to speak to other like-minded people, brands and influencers about what sustainability means to them. There are so many small things we can do to help make a big difference. As we chat to people from different industries and walks of life, we hope to find little moments of inspirations, to help us all live better.

This conversation is with influencer Bianca Foley – we hope you enjoy.

Hi Bianca, tell us briefly about yourself...

I am a content creator and podcaster, I speak about sustainable living and fashion! My podcast is called Sustainably Influenced. Together with my close friend Charlotte Williams, we discuss everything in the area of sustainability, there’s no topic we won’t discuss! My Instagram platform (@biancaffoley) is where I showcase my fashion and lifestyle content - I love clothes and how you can express yourself through what you wear!

What does ‘living sustainably’ mean to you?

For me I think the term “sustainability” has become a little muddied, whatever we do we make some sort of impact, my belief is that as long as you are making more mindful and conscious decisions about your life then you can begin to have a more positive impact.  For instance - when you’re going out, do you need to drive or could you walk or take a bike? Making lots of smaller “low impact” swaps compounded together can make a big difference.

What inspired you to start thinking more sustainability?

It came about years ago - earlier on in my blogging days, Charlotte and I were discussing the number of parcels we received and the amount of waste we had as a result! We were both so interested in doing better, but didn’t know where to start. We put together an event and it sold out! It just showed us that so many people were interested in this topic too but didn’t know where to start!

What’s the one change you’d like to see happen in the next 3 years?

I would really love to see brands promote their circular practices a lot more! Consumers are really focussed on making ethical changes, so brands should make it easier for their customers. So many companies offer in house recycling, refills, rental and mending services, but not many of them promote what it is they do!

What’s the one small change people can make to their day-to-day life that will help make a difference?

Swaps over to zero waste or refill products in your bathroom. We create so much waste and making a few swaps where you can is a great place to start - refillable hair and body products, shampoo bars, glass bottles instead of plastic are all fantastic ways to help minimise your impact.

What do you think is the biggest misconceptions around sustainability?

One of the biggest misconceptions I had personally was that I thought I would have to give up much of my lifestyle.  Many people think you have to live a completely eco life -  its that old viewpoint that you have to wear hemp and just live off the land! Boy, I was so wrong, you can make so many swaps and still maintain a lifestyle that you want to live!

And finally, what is your favourite Bramley product and why?

It’s hard to say! I love the Home Candle, I also love the Morning, Noon & Night set as well as the Digby dog wash but I think my favourite products are the hand wash and moisturiser! I have used them for years, I love how luxurious they feel.
